TAZ — ColecoVision Homebrew
A downloadable ROM
TAZ for ColecoVision
Taz is back — and he's ravenous.
Guide the Tasmanian Devil across eight lanes of non-stop action. Food flies at you from every direction: grab the hamburgers, root beers, ice cream cones, fudgesicles, apple cores, turnips and sundaes before they disappear off-screen. But watch out — dynamite sticks are mixed in with the feast, and one wrong catch will cost you a life.
TAZ for ColecoVision is a faithful and lovingly crafted adaptation of the 1983 Atari 2600 classic developed by Steve Woita and published by Atari. Built from scratch in CVBasic for real ColecoVision hardware, it runs on a standard cartridge with no expansion hardware required.
Features
- 8 simultaneous lanes of objects moving left and right
- 7 types of collectible food items, each worth a different point value
- Dynamite sticks as the sole hazard — one touch and you lose a life
- Progressive difficulty: more item types unlock wave after wave, objects accelerate over time
- Earn an extra life at 1,000 pts, 3,000 pts, 5,000 pts, 8,000 pts, 11,000 pts and beyond
- Full animated splash screen, title screen and attract sequence
- Animated in-game background with eyes that follow Taz — and blink
- Distinct Game Over and victory sequences with animated Taz
- Two original music tracks (title screen + in-game) plus sound effects
- Toggle music on/off in-game with the # key
- NTSC and PAL compatible
- No SGM or expansion hardware required
How to play
Use the joystick to move Taz left, right, up and down across the eight lanes. Catch food items to score points. Avoid the dynamite. The game has no ending — chase the highest score you can reach.

Fantastic port! Thank you!
Fun fact: in Europe the Atari 2600 game was rebranded to "Asterix" and its graphics were modded to match that comic franchise.
Bô boulot 👍😉
